5 Heroic Pets Who Saved Their Owners

If you’re a pet owner, then you know just how lovable and amazing those small, furry companions can be. Some pets, however, go above and beyond just being a cuddle-buddy. These five pets are the reason that their owners are still alive.

Wunsy, The Crime Fighter

Wunsy is one amazing parrot. He usually goes along on jogs with his owner, and this time, she must have been quite glad to have him along.

As they were on their morning jog through a London park, an unknown assailant pushed her to the ground. Luckily, Wunsy was having none of it. Before the situation could escalate, Wunsy swooped in and scared the attacker away with a barrage of wing-flaps and squawks. Wunsy earned his title as a crime fighter that day. Of that, there is no doubt.

Roman Was There When No-one Else Was

We all know how well our furry friends can keep us from becoming sad. Roman is a dog who took it one step further.

His owner, a 13-year-old-girl, was suffering a bout of depression when she found herself at the edge of a building’s roof. Karma must have been on her side;  she had adopted Roman six months earlier. That act of kindness saved her, because Roman latched on to her shirt and refused to let go until help arrived to pull her to safety.

Sky Made The Ultimate Sacrifice

Just off the coast of Australia, Captain Franz Van Derpoll was spearfishing with his dog Sky sitting on the boat. While he was underwater, Sky noticed something.

Van Derpoll was being encircled by two, mean-looking sharks. Sky had noticed this and dove in, out of loyalty, to save her owner. Captain Van Derpoll survived, but the resulting attack ultimately took Sky’s life. Sky made the ultimate sacrifice, and she will certainly never be forgotten by the Captain.

Dylan – Alarmed

Dylan is a cockatiel that used his loud voice to wake his owner during a time of need. Though he might be a bird, he is no chicken.

Dylan’s owner, Andrew, had just come home bone-tired from his third shift at work. While he was sleeping, a fire broke out. Despite the flames and smoke, Andrew was so tired, he didn’t even stir. Luckily Dylan sounded the alarm with raucous squawking. Andrew woke up in time to escape the building along with his new savior.

Slinky Malinki To The Rescue

When this cat’s owner, a retired nurse named Jenny, collapsed in her home due to a bad reaction to medication, he took it upon himself to save the day.

Jenny had been drifting in and out of consciousness for days and Slinky Malinki knew he had to take action. He ran over to a neighbor’s house and tapped on a window. The neighbor knew something was wrong and, upon inspecting Jenny’s house, confirmed it. Had he not taken the initiative, this cat’s owner certainly would not have made it.

Pets are, to some, the most important companions in a person’s life. These pets are one step above. Not only did they offer companionship, but they saved the lives of their owners to boot!
