Cute Quokka Sets Eyes On Cyclist, Won’t Leave Him Alone

If you’ve never heard of a quokka before, you’re not alone. Many people probably haven’t. But after you take a look at this, you’ll never forget the word quokka (and you will be jealous and most likely want to meet one!).

A quokka is a marsupial (an extremely cute marsupial) found in Australia. They are said to be very curious by nature and, since they only have a few predators, they are not too fearful around humans. There are numerous reports across the web about friendly quokkas approaching people, and many individuals have been lucky enough to snag photos with the cuddly-looking animals.

Recently, an especially cheerful quokka approached 21-year-od Campbell Jones, who was out for a bike ride with his girlfriend in Rottnest, Australia.

“As I walked back to my bike, the quokka chased after me,” Jones told the West Australian. “I put down the GoPro and it jumped at me as if to say, ‘Come back.'”

The quokka took a serious liking to Jones, as evidenced by the photos shared on Jones’ Instagram page.

Great pictures!

Quokkas are threatened for several reasons, including human development. People should be aware of their vulnerable status. So go ahead and take that selfie, but be kind and sensitive if you are lucky enough to come across one of these oh-so-adorable creatures!
