How Did People Feel About Mobile Phones In 1999? Uh, You Might Be Surprised…

It’s 2016 and everyone has a mobile phone/smartphone. In fact, they are so popular that we’ve had to create laws to protect against them. Texting while driving is a HUGE problem, and it’s considered to be six times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated.

Heck, even walking while texting can be dangerous. Multiple cities across America have proposed bills that would ban walking while texting and prohibit pedestrians on roads from using phones that are not hands-free.

It’s easy to see. We are addicted to our phones. Ask some stranger on the street today, “Could you survive without your smartphone?” and they would look at you like you’re crazy.

But back in 1999? Things were a little different. Check out the video below to see how people felt about mobile phones almost 20 years ago.

To be fair, phones back then didn’t have all the features they have now. You couldn’t pull up Netflix on your phone in 1999. But still, it’s interesting to look back.
