Raleigh Police Officer Dan Hicks was on his way home from a long day at work when he noticed a man sitting on the ledge of an overpass. Hicks parked his vehicle, talked to the man and managed to get him off the ledge.
And then the man got a hug. Not just any hug, “He got a big old Dan Hicks bear hug whether he wanted it or not,” Hicks told WRAL.

“This story is a great reminder that there is help for people in mental distress,” the police department wrote on their Facebook page.
