When most Americans think of ballet, they think of a stuffy, boring affair attended by pretentious rich snobs living in an elitist culture, completely alienating everyday people. While it’s hard to say there isn’t a hint of truth to that view, so many folks are missing out on a mind-blowing experience capable of expanding their horizons. While traditional ballet may move at a slower pace than many in our fast-moving society may not be able to enjoy fully, there are some very innovative new forms taking root out in the world that reinterprets this beautiful art in some amazing ways.
The Light Orchestra – Ladies Musical Quartet consists of one musician and three ballerinas.
What makes this group unique is their brilliant LED-lighted costumes and accessories (such as LED eyelashes).
The electric instruments used in these performances are usually a cello, violin, or harp, and the choreography features ultra-modern movements.
Both the sights and sounds of these unearthly performances make you feel like you’re sleepwalking because it’s like watching a dream unfold.
These ladies certainly must put in a lot of hard work to produce such incredible art.
And I wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn their inspiration came from nature — namely jellyfish.
You can watch a video featuring highlights of their performance below.
Watching these ladies makes me think of how folks must have imagined ancient goddesses dancing in their temples. Please be sure to pass this story onto your friends and family.
