When a 93-year-old woman was trying to mow her lawn, suddenly there were two complete strangers who rushed to her assistance.
“We did this sweet lady’s lawn today. She is 93, and the neighbors told us that she had been out there trying to cut her own lawn” Smith wrote on Facebook.
It turned out that the 93 year old is not the only senior that Smith and his friend Terrence Stony have been helping out.
He got the idea to help those in need when he saw an older man struggling to mow his grass. He then started a Raising Men Lawn Care Service. He set out a goal to mow at least 40 lawns for 2 months but he and his volunteers made it to 200.
“I want to restore the importance and understanding of giving back to the community” Smith says in the GoFundMe page he set up for the organization.
The fundraiser has drawn around $21,000 which Smith says will be used to buy equipment and uniforms for the volunteers.
“I want to show our children that by helping others, they too will receive a sense of accomplishment, self-esteem, moral value and purpose in themselves” Smith had said.
