Are You Seeing A Rocket Icon On Your Facebook App? Here’s Why

Facebook has recently started testing a new feature with a small group of users. You may have seen a rocket shaped icon at the bottom of your phone screen right next to the News Feed icon. Did you click it if you saw it? Were you as confused as I was? Well, if you were here’s all the information I could gather about it so far.

The rocket is labeled explore, and once clicked it brings you to a screen with posts from a mixture of your liked pages and pages you might like depending on your interests or activities on Facebook.

A Facebook spokesperson told Wired:

We are testing a complementary feed of popular articles, videos, and photos, customized for each person based on content that might be interesting to them. We’ve heard from people that they want an easy way to explore new content they haven’t connected with yet.

Now, if you are an Instagram user this may sound extremely familiar. Instagram has an explore tab, and it does the exact same thing. It seems like Facebook wants to be a one-stop shop for all things social media. They are doing a great job on keeping up with the trends.

Not everyone has seen this feature yet, and the few people who have seen it noticed that the icon has a tendency to disappear and reappear. At the moment I am patiently waiting for it to reappear on my app!

Have you seen the Rocket Icon? What do you like or dislike about it? Please tell us in the comments below.
