7 DIY Bath Products You Can Make With Ingredients You Already Have

If you’re like me and you love a good bath, you know that it can sometimes get expensive. Don’t worry, though – these tutorials have got you covered! I especially like the products inspired by Lush, a personal favorite of mine. I’ve included the recipes, but you can also check them out at Tastemade, Youne, The Makeup Dummy, Mama Papa Bubba, Wellness Mama, and Baking Outside The Box.

1. Lush-Inspired Bath Bombs

Homemade Bath Bombs @tastemade_japan NEED: 8 tbsp baking soda 4 tbsp citric acid water food coloring (pink, orange, purple) round mold (optional) preserved flowers aroma oil bath salt STEPS: Combine baking soda and citric acid in a bowl and mix well. In a small bowl, mix together water and food coloring and mix until smooth. Add the food coloring mixture a little a a time to the baking soda mixture, making sure to start mixing immediately. You can add aroma oil or bath salt at this time. Using your hands, mix until it feels like soft clay. Pour into round molds. You may also add in preserved flowers at this time. Leave overnight to let it dry. Take the bath bomb out of the case before using. #DIY #bathbombs #homemade

2. Honey Shampoo

Ingredients: 1 tbs. raw honey, 3 tbs. filtered water and 2 drops of rosemary oil.

Slightly heat mixture over very low heat to help dissolve honey. Add honey shampoo on wet hair and massage on scalp. Rinse well.

3. Avocado Conditioner

Ingredients: one avocado, 2 tbs olive oil, 2 tbs water, 2 tbs heavy cream.

Mix all ingredients, comb mixture through hair and cover with shower cap. Wait for 20 minutes, then rinse. This conditioner is for dry hair.

4. Ocean Salt Shower Scrub

Ingredients: 3 tbsp. fine sea salt, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tbsp. orange blossom water (or any blossom water), 1 tbsp. coconut oil (can be replaced with almond or olive oil), (optional) blue food coloring

1. Add one tablespoon of melted coconut oil to salt. Stir well.

2. Add one tablespoon of lime or lemon juice. Stir well.

3. Add blossom water until salt looks moist. Stir well.

4. Add food coloring (optional)

5. Bonus: add 2 drops of mimosa, jasmine, and lemon for scent.

5. Squishy Soap – Great For Kids!

Ingredients: 1/2 cup of cornstarch, 1/8 cup of pure liquid castile soap (or other liquid soap or body wash of same consistency), 4 teaspoons of sweet almond oil, liquid watercolors for coloring.

Measure ingredients into small bowl and mix.  Dump contents out onto clean surface and knead until soap is smooth and not sticky.

6. Shower Melts For Cold And Flu Relief

Ingredients: 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup sea salt or epsom salt, up to 2 teaspoons water, essential oils (20 drops each of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lavender, Rosemary and Lemon), 1 teaspoon powdered menthol crystals (optional)

  1. Combine baking soda, salt/epsom salt, mix well.
  2. Put small amounts water into mix and stir until you get consistency of slightly wet sand.
  3. Add menthol crystals and essential oils. Stir to combine.
  4. Push mixture into silicon molds or other greased container. Press in and leave at least 24 to 48 hours or until hardened.
  5. When dry, remove and store in airtight container.

7. Lush-Inspired Bubble Bars

Via Baking Outside The Box

Ingredients: 1 ½ cups baking soda 1 cup cornstarch 2 T. cream of tartar 2/3 cup liquid bubble bath 2 T. coconut oil (melted) (or almond, or vegetable) 2 T. glycerin Essential oils, spices or flavorings for scent (opt.), food coloring (opt.)

1. Stir together dry ingredients in microwave-proof bowl.

2. Add liquid bubble bath, oil and glycerin. Stir until combined.

3. Stir in flavorings and food coloring.

4. Place mixture in microwave on high for 1 minute.

5. Remove from microwave and stir bubble bath mixture, scraping down sides of bowl and stirring until smooth.

6. Repeat steps 4 & 5.

7. Return mixture to microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Dump dough onto clean surface. Knead warm (not hot) dough a few times. If sticky, add up to a tablespoon of cornstarch. If crumbly, knead in 1 teaspoon of bubble bath liquid.

8. Form into shapes as desired using molds, scoops, or hands. Add sprinkles or glitter as desired.

9. Allow to dry 48-72 hours.
