Giving birth is usually no laughing matter, but this didn’t stop one Detroit mother from transforming the whole thing into a bag of jokes.
This particular mother chose to wear a Chewbacca mask while in labor, and I have to say, it was a sight to behold. Candace Payne, who is now known as “Chewbacca Mom,” made the mask famous last year in her viral video. For those who are unaware, when the mask is on, any sound the user makes is heard in the infamous Chewbacca cries.
Katie Stricker Curtis is the latest mother to wear the mask, and she decided to put it on while in labor. I’m sure it didn’t help with keeping the pain away, but it certainly gave everyone else a laugh. The video was uploaded to Facebook by Katie after giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Jayden Lee. Since then, it has amassed over 800,000 views and counting.
“Just because I’m about to be a mom doesn’t mean I have to grow up!” says Katie in a statement on Facebook. “Bwahahahahs never take life too seriously! Best Christmas gift ever!”
