As COVID-19 affects all facets of life, we’re pushed to navigate a foreign field. People were taken to a new reality that involves working from home, maintaining a safe distance, and worrying a lot. Needless to say, everyone was having a tough time surviving the pandemic. But amid this trying period, a mystery mom has shown that kindness and compassion still exist no matter what. And in this case, they came in the form of brown bags on a long table. Inside these bags are free lunch meals for everyone who needs it! The unknown lady has been leaving them outside the busy Arundel Beach Road traffic circle in Severna Park, Maryland.
She has been preparing them every day and putting the lunch bags at the same place from 11 a.m. until they run out. She even left signs to encourage those people in need and invite them to grab a bite. It reads, “For anyone who needs it…I will be leaving some healthy sack lunches on this table for you if you are hungry and need to eat. Made with love by a neighborhood mom in a clean and sanitized kitchen.” This is too sweet and touching! She certainly has a golden heart.
Small acts of kindness can go a long way. This seemingly simple deed has helped many people more than this superwoman probably knows. And a local parent, Kimberly Gussow, happened to be one of those on the receiving end. She reached for the meals for her two children and was very grateful for the ham sandwiches, oranges, and fruit snacks inside. “Times are a little bit tough,” she said. “I think it’s great everybody is stepping up to help out any way they can. This might not be a good time but it forces everybody to slow down and reevaluate,” Gussow said. “It’s great to show our kids that there is good in our world. It’s not just about ourselves, it needs to be about others too.”
And I couldn’t agree more! A tiny ripple of positivity, no matter how small, can soon create a huge wave of change in the world. This lovely act has certainly inspired or lifted up the spirits of many people. We may all be going through a hard time but we’re not facing it alone. May this serve as a reminder that we’re in this together and just like anything, this too shall pass!
