A member of UCLA’s women’s gymnastic team has had her most recent routine go viral. Not only is Nia Dennis an unbelievably talented gymnast, but she’s also very creative and a fan of Beyoncé. How do we know that? Because her viral routine is Beyoncé-themed and set to Queen Bey’s music.
Throughout the routine, you can hear several of Beyoncé’s hits, including “Crazy in Love,” “Ego,” and Destiny’s Child’s hit “Lose My Breath.”
When she’s not amazing all of us with her athleticism, Nia enjoys cooking and creating nail art. Her favorite school subject is social studies, and her favorite childhood book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She says that she’s been doing gymnastics since she was six years old, and her parents say that as a little girl, she loved playing on the monkey bars.
After performing the last complex tumbling pass of her floor routine, Nia “crowned” herself with her hands. And yes, she is a queen. No doubt about it. Nia is as much a queen as the famous Queen Bey she’s honoring with this beautiful routine.
TV? Who has time for that? Probably not her! But when she does watch TV, she likes watching “Dance Moms.” Speaking of dancing, Nia loves to dance. Check out this video she posted on her Instagram of her at a dance class in November.
Oh, and Nia loves pancakes. Who doesn’t? Sign me up!
According to the UCLA Bruins website, Nia is 5’1″ and has the following accomplishments:
- 2019 First-Team All-American on bars
- 2019 NCAA team bronze medalist
- 2018 NCAA team champion
- Two-time All-Pac-12 honoree (2019 second-team vault, 2018 second-team bars
- Scored career-high 9.975 on beam 2/2/19 and on floor 2/25/18
- U.S. National team member from 2013-15
When she’s done with her fabulous routine, we get to see how a gymnast feels after doing a floor routine like the one Nia performed. She is exhausted!
This young lady is proof that dynamite comes in small packages. We’re behind you all the way, Nia! Watch her video below and fall “crazy in love.”
Here’s the video on Twitter if you want to watch it and interact with the UCLA Gymnastics account there.
A homecoming performance that would make @Beyonce proud! @DennisNia made us lose our breath with her 9.975 on floor exercise last weekend in Pauley.
Who else is crazy in love with her routine? 😍 pic.twitter.com/XE4VvTrZOK
