For those of you watching on Disney Plus, there may be some movies or series on there you didn’t know about. There is so much content on there that a lot of it gets overlooked. So, here are some hidden gems that you might want to explore.
1. Lilo and Stitch: The Series
Lilo and Stitch are beloved Disney characters that have been in a few films, but did you know there is a series about them? In the movies, the other alien experiments land in Hawaii in water-activated pods. In the series, Lilo and Stitch must catch the other alien experiments before the evil scientist does.
2. Pixar Sparkshorts
One of the many great choices Pixar made was to let employees make any short they want. You can find many great shorts you’ve already seen in the theatres, plus many new ones. One of the new ones, Out, includes the first gay character in a Disney short.
3. Destino
This short was over fifty years in the making. It is a collaboration between Salvador Dali and Walt Disney and it tells the romance of Chronos, the god of time, and a mortal woman. The art in this is breathtaking.
4. Empire of Dreams
This documentary tells the story of the making of the original Star Wars movies in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
5. Emperor’s New Groove
This is an underrated and funny Disney classic featuring David Spade and John Goodman. It tends to be overlooked by many fans, but it definitely deserves another watch.
6. Mickey’s Once/Twice Upon A Christmas
Both of these are classic Christmas movies that you can now watch anytime. Each movie features Mickey and friends telling classic tales about the holidays.
7. Disney Nature
For some educational content, you can now stream all of Disney’s nature documentaries. They have ones about elephants, dolphins, lions, and other animals.
8. One Day At Disney
This documentary series takes a look at a different Disney employee each episode and follows them to work for a day.
9. Cool Runnings
This Disney classic tells the story of the first Jamaican bobsled team in the Olympics. It is hilarious and very underrated.
10. The Atlantis Movies
These movies tell the story of Milo, the scientist, looking for the lost city of Atlantis. There is also a sequel in which he returns to Atlantis.
11. Remember the Titans
This movie tells the true story of the Titans, the first integrated high school football team.
12. 10 Things I Hate About You
Bet you didn’t know this 90s classic was on Disney+, but it is! This is a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, and many more.
13. Bedknobs and Broomsticks
This 70s classic is one of the first Disney movies to mix animation and live-action.
14. Willow
This is a 1970s classic fantasy epic that is often overlooked.
15. The Inspector Gadget movies
The 90s Inspector Gadget live-action movies are on Disney+. These are underrated classics.
16. Flight of the Navigator
This 1986 classic is one you may have either grown up watching or have never seen before. Either way, the nostalgia is strong with this one.
17. Hercules: The Animated Series
This classic series tells the story of Hercules as a teenager, which was overlooked by the movie. This is hard to find anywhere else.
