My husband and I do cat and kitten rescue, something we never dreamed we would be doing. However, life had plans for us, you could say, and here we are. One thing we’ve learned about cats is that they have unique personalities and most of them have quite a lot of confidence. Furthermore, they tend to be brave and aren’t afraid to challenge not only other cats but even our dogs, who thank goodness are gentle creatures not prone to teach the cats painful lessons. They just sort of tolerate the cats.
Felines are natural predators, no matter how tiny they are. Although our housecats are probably quite out of practice when it comes to being bosses, they’re still predators at heart, and many are territorial. There’s an organization in North Texas called Care Rescue Texas that’s run by the Animals Research and Education Foundation. The rescue has a hugely popular YouTube channel called BigCatDerek. At their facility, they have a housecat named Baggy who seems to think she’s a lion or a tiger. In a recent video, Derek was petting Baggy and acknowledging that she wasn’t a webcast kitty when Baggy decided to challenge Noey, a nearby lion who was in a pen.
In the video below, you’ll see this ferocious tiny cat challenge a big female lion. Meanwhile, Derek is on the side, saying “Baggy! Abort!” Finally, Baggy backed down, no doubt feeling that she had won the challenge.
