As we all know, the Pokémon franchise is recognized all around the world- from kids to young adults. It spans across multiple media from mangas, video games, anime, novels, live actions, and even mobile games! The whole franchise has just been around for less than three decades but still, it was able to capture millions of fans. But besides the amazing and bizarre forms that these pocket monsters take, their names are also as confusing as their appearance. Even veteran fans can’t possibly name correctly every single one of the many generations of these creatures. So, how do you think would a stranger to the franchise name them? The video featured shows exactly just that!
And to make it more interesting, the lovely guest was a senior citizen! Ally is from the family of professional staycationers under the internet profile name, “Our Epic Life”. She had the brilliant idea of asking her adorable grandmother to name the first generation starter Pokémon and their evolutions. And the results are both hilarious and heartwarming! For those who had an amazing childhood, we all know that the three amazing pillar icons are Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Pretty easy, right? I bet you can even name all their evolutions as well with incredible ease. However, for our delightful nonna right here, it may not be a very easy feat.
Still, the old lady with a young heart did her very best to carefully and correctly name them- and failed miserably. She even called them “animals”! And for your reference, here’s what she called our childhood favorite characters. Bulbasaur turned into a ‘Strawberry Nut’ with evolution characters ‘I Dunno’ and ‘Ribbon’. Hmm, close enough? But that’s not the best part yet! Wait until she names the second icon now- Charmander. She decided to call him ‘Hamilton’ with ’Mousy’ and ‘Blue Eyed Jerk’ as the evolutions. Last but not least is Squirtle. Her take? ‘Tumbleweed’! And ‘Tumbleweed’ apparently has evolution characters named ‘Poor Turtles’ and ‘Pieces’. And that concludes the show! Her side comments will also leave you gagging!
