Vet Says Puppy With Tail Grown Out It’s Head Is Normal (And Adorable!)

Narwhal is a 10-week-old puppy who has captivated the entire internet for one little reason: he has a tiny tail growing out of the top of his head.

Found abandoned along with an older dog, Narwhal was rescued by Mac’s Mission out of Jackson Missouri.

Narwhal visited veterinarian Dr. Heurig, who found “no medical need to remove” Narwhal’s adorable little tail. It causes narwhal no pain and isn’t connected to anything vital.

Since it’s non-life-threatening, the tail is no biggie, in other words. It simply makes Narwhal the coolest pup ever.

As of November 19, Narwhal’s not yet available for adoption.

“He [Narwhal] is not available for adoption immediately as we want him to grow a bit more and truly make sure the tail doesn’t become a bother or problem. Right now he is pretty much the most unique amazing example of what we do here and we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of his journey. Thank you everyone for helping us help them!” – Mac’s Mission

We bet Narwhal will have ZERO trouble finding a loving home.

Mac’s Mission is a grassroots nonprofit that specializes in finding loving homes for homeless “janky” dogs who would likely die without their intervention. Their mission is to help those dogs that are abused, injured, or have birth defects. Shelters don’t always have the resources to help these kinds of dogs (and typically euthanize them), so Mac’s steps in.
