NJ Launches ‘Baby Box’ Program To Help Families In Need

If you have a child you know how expensive and confusing everything can be. Well, the state of New Jersey has just launched the Baby Box program to help new parents. This is an incredible idea that I hope will be implemented in all states really soon.

New Jersey isn’t the first place to have a program like this, but they are the first state in the United States to do it. The Baby Box idea was derived from a program in Finland which has been in place since the early 1930s.

The concept is simple: each newborn will have the option to get a sturdy cardboard that can be used as a baby bed for the first six months. The box also comes filled with newborn essentials and tips for the new parents.

The Baby Box has a retail value of about $150. It comes with a firm mattress, a waterproof cover and a fitted sheet, in addition to diapers, wipes, breast cream, breast pads, a onesie, and an activity cart.

Did I mention that this is all given to the parents for FREE. All the parents have to do is go online and take a short online educational course about parenting. Then they can choose to have the box shipped to them, or they can go and pick up the box at the nearest distribution center if they need it sooner.

Shout out to New Jersey for leading the way, and bringing this program to light.
