Lindsey Stirling and Her Violin Perform Sizzling ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’

I’m always a little behind when it comes to pop culture and that’s not just because I’m an old lady (ha). I’ve always sort of lived in my own little world and a lot of stuff escapes my attention. This is largely because I went 20 years without watching TV, I think, but also, I’m pretty good at tuning out the stuff that’s not relevant to whatever I’m focused on. Because of this, I fairly frequently have delightful surprises when I “discover” someone or something that everyone else in the entire universe has already known about. My most recent discovery is the incomparable Lindsey Stirling.

Lindsey is an American violinist, dancer, and songwriter who rose to fame after being on the fifth season of the hit TV show “America’s Got Talent” in 2010. She ended up a quarter-finalist, but the shocking thing is that host Piers Morgan told her that she’s “not untalented,” but that she’s just not good enough to do what she loves to do, which is dance around on the stage as she plays her violin. What does Piers Morgan know? He’s a bit of a moron anyhow, and wow was he ever wrong about this talented young woman.

The great thing is, Lindsey stayed true to herself and has found tremendous success because of it. In fact, she says that while Morgan’s words were painful and “a bit humiliating,” it was an opportunity for her to relearn what gives her the strength that has made her successful. She notes that it’s only because of her insistence on remaining true to herself that she’s found success.

To date, Lindsey has a net worth of several million dollars, and she has an enormously popular YouTube channel with more than 12.7 million subscribers. She’s also found a lot of commercial success with her albums. The video below has more than 13 million views. Enjoy.
