Photographer Who Caught These ‘Dancing’ Baby Bears Thought He Was Imagining It at First

Nature is indeed full of surprises. There’s just so much to explore for all your senses to feast upon. Something new always awaits you as long as you’re patient enough to find and discover its wonders. As for Valtteri Mulkahainen of Sotkamo, Finland, he was presented with a magical moment that his eyes couldn’t even believe at first. He was able to take a snippet of the secret life of bears. And the story literally looked like something straight right out of a fairytale book!

Valtteri is a physical education teacher who has a passion for photography. So, he uses most of his free time roaming around his countries’ wildlife to find unique subjects and capture the beauty of the forest life. In fact, he has been doing this for six whimsical years. One day, a few years ago, he decided to walk around and see the sights of a Finnish taiga close to the town called Martinselkonen. To his delight, he sighted a bear with a handful of small cubs just 50 meters away from the shelter he’s staying. And he had the perfect angle to appreciate the adorable view and take clear pictures of them. The results are surreal!

“The cubs behaved like little children,” Valtteri said. “They were playing and even started a few friendly fights. I felt like I was on a playground in front of my house, where small children frolic around. That’s how much they reminded me of little children. At one point, the three of them got up on their hind legs and started pushing each other. It was like they were dancing in a circle,” he added. He couldn’t get enough of the majestic moment that he went on and spent all evening to photograph them, not leaving any detail behind!

And did you notice how the mama bear’s just standing behind at a distance to watch out while letting them play? Their cautious nature can immediately detect anyone’s presence. And a sow will literally destroy anyone who can be a danger to her cute little ones. This is why you should never get too close (yep, no matter how adorable they look) to cubs even when you think they’re alone. And Valtteri certainly did a perfect job without alerting them.

Is it just me or they look like the three baby bears in the Disney movie, “Brave”? These juveniles are so cute and fluffy! I bet their playfulness is always giving their mom a headache. Rawr!
