We all sing in one way or another. Many people are good singers and actually perform regularly, whether they’re professional singers or just sing in their church worship group every Sunday. Then there are the rest of us, who sing in the shower or as we’re going about our day. Maybe we jam out in the car when we’re commuting to the office. I know when I was raising my children, our car was a concert hall. We had a 20-minute drive to school every morning, and our favorite group to sing to was Queen. We thought we were good!
We also sang Phantom of the Opera, with all of us having our own designated parts. What we lacked in talent, we more than made up for in enthusiasm. That’s something we have in common with the little girl in this sweet video. There’s nothing more adorable than a child singing, and this little one actually has a lot of talent! Her name is Nonaka Murakata and she’s from Japan. For this performance, she was singing in the 35th annual Prince Tomohito’s Children’s Song Competition Grand Prix Tournament. There to see her perform was Her Imperial Highness Prince Tomohito’s oldest daughter, Princess Akiko.
Japan’s Singing Sensation, Nonaka Murakata
For the contest, more than 5,000 people applied, and that’s in a crazy year when people aren’t wanting to get out. Last year, even more people applied to be in this beloved contest that the Japanese people have been enjoying for so many years. Out of those who applied, only 24 made it to the final round. They had their youngest competitor in the contest’s history (this little angel) and also their oldest contestant, a 92-year-old.
The song Nonaka is singing is called “The Police Dog,” and while we don’t know what the words are saying, it’s so adorable that we can’t stop watching it. Just look how tiny she is!
We love this little girl!
