Tiny Drummer Demonstrates His Skills With Lenny Kravitz Cover, Kravitz Surprises Him

As a person who spent my formative years studying music, I know a little bit about music and the skill level someone has to have to perform well. To be clear, I’m not a great musician. However, I have a profound respect for folks who are good enough at any instrument to perform for other folks. And there are some people who seem to be born with talent. For example, Mozart was composing symphonies from the time he was five years old. Because of the advent of the internet and websites like YouTube, we’ve been blessed to see many other prodigious child musicians over the years.

One such child prodigy is a five-year-old little boy by the name of Justin Wilson II. Justin is an extremely skilled drummer and performer and has sort of taken the internet by storm. By the time Justin was four years old, he was playing a Lenny Kravitz hit on the drums: “Fly Away.” The media quickly started reporting on this young whiz of a musician because of his incredible skill with drumsticks, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s completely adorable as well. Ellen DeGeneres heard about him and booked him on her show, where he was a huge hit.

A year after his first appearance on The Ellen Show, Justin returned to play another Lenny Kravitz song, “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” This kid is so dang talented as a performer. His skills at the drums are remarkable, but he’s also a natural showman. For this performance, Ellen had quite a big surprise waiting for him: Lenny Kravitz himself, hiding backstage and ready to surprise the young man.

The little man took his seat behind his drums and started playing his little heart out to the original track of Kravitz’s song. You can tell that he loves every minute of performing. He just genuinely enjoys it. I hope that never changes for him. Incredibly, even when he saw Lenny Kravitz on the stage, he never stopped drumming. Watch this adorable video below.

That kid is going places!
