3. Lucy was discovered on this day
Last November 30, 1974, several hundred pieces of bone fossils representing 40 percent of the skeleton of a female of the hominin species Australopithecus afarensis was found in Ethopia.

During the time that it was discovered, the song “Lucy in the sky with Diamonds” by The Beatles was playing repeatedly in the expedition camp. Thus, the discovery was named Lucy and easily became a household name during that time.
4. Today is Lucy’s birthday
Let’s jump to another Lucy. Today, November 30 is Lucy Maud Montgomery‘s birthday. The author of Anne of Green Gables was born on 1874.
Another author who was born on this day is Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver’s Travel. He was born on November 30, 1667.
Yet another author that shares the same birthday as the two previous ones was Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens). He was born in November 30, 1835, he was best remembered for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
