Sara Bareilles Sings ‘Once upon Another Time’ with Ben Folds and Caroline Shaw

Regardless of both modern and classical music arrangements, talented artists can showcase both and get the same marvelous result that will satisfy the viewers. Artistic advisor Ben Folds tries to breakdown barriers between music genres at the Kennedy Center. Ben Folds is a singer-songwriter and was named as the new artistic adviser to the National Symphony Orchestra. He came into a lot of ideas on how to apply programming and performing in the NSO’s late-night Declassified series. He arranged a concert specifically for the National Symphony Orchestra. He selected artists like Sara Bareilles an American songwriter, actress, and producer, Caroline Adelaide Shaw an American violinist, singer, and composer, the NSO of course. And this was conducted by Edwin Outwater and arranged by Rob Moose.

In this concert series, they covered the song “Once Upon Another Time” by Sara Bareilles herself. This haunting lullaby is about leaving behind what is familiar and known to explore a new world. She mystically creates a world that maintains the newfound freedom and independence and not holding back any ill-feeling against the past and childlike ways. Her crafts of songs bring back into her roots of soul and jazz music. Sara Bareilles bravely leaps to an unknown when she decided to leave her label producer and teamed up with Ben Folds, and they do series of concerts together. When you witness this “Once Upon Another Time” concert and hear Sara’s angelic voice, you’d get a heartwarming feeling deep within you. It touches your inner soul and would want to close your eyes and just listen to the melody.

The audience just sat stunningly silent and was listening intently to the amazing concert. It was a great symphony indeed.
