The world was stunned by a humble 47-year-old lady in April 2009. She taught everyone a lesson of a lifetime to never judge anyone by the eye. With her powerful, angelic voice, she has shushed all the cynics and mesmerized them to listen to her sing. Her name? Susan Boyle. Ever since Susan was a little girl, she was bullied a lot. She lived a humble life in a small town in Scotland. Sadly, she had always thought that she was briefly deprived of oxygen during birth and that she had a learning disability. But then, she was later on told that it was just a misdiagnosis. Susan’s mother has believed in her skills and supported her nonetheless.
And so, despite her rough childhood, her mom urged her to enter Britain’s Got Talent to pursue a singing career. There, the world saw a free-spirited, sassy lady who cheerily said, “I am forty-seven, and that’s just one side of me!” The audience laughed at her when she mentioned how she wanted to become a professional singer like Elaine Paige. But as soon as she started singing, all the giggles stopped, and the crowd couldn’t believe their ears! Susan sang an amazing rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables. Which, of course, has garnered three resounding yes from the judges! Her performance also became a viral hit, and her simple life has then been changed forever.
Now, she’s back for a US tour to promote her fifth album and a movie debut! Her first stop was at the largest church in America- the Lakewood Church in Huston, Texas- where Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen has invited her. She sang a jaw-dropping rendition of the song “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban. Together with a choir, the performance echoed around the place, and it was so hypnotizing! You can feel the 40,000 people in the church applauding her, glad to have witnessed a masterpiece. She also went on to sing the “Miracle Hymn” and “O Come All Ye Faithful” after.
